What is a TBI
Traumatic Brain Injury?
A traumatic brain injury, or TBI, happens when a blow, jolt, or other external force to the head disrupts how the brain normally works. A TBI can happen in many different ways, including falls, vehicle accidents, being struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian, ATV accidents, assaults, and other serious impacts to the head.
TBIs can range from mild, including a concussion, to moderate or severe. No two brain injuries are exactly alike.
Having a TBI can feel like starting over on a new path you never asked for. Things that once came naturally can suddenly become difficult. Your memory, balance, focus, emotions, energy, and everyday life can change, and sometimes you don’t even understand why.
If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. READ MORE
Welcome to
TBI Meets Foundation!
TBI Meets Foundation, a 501(C)3 nonprofit is a survivor-led community built on connection, understanding, acceptance, education, awareness, opportunity, and fun.
We understand that life after a brain injury can feel isolating, especially when others don't fully understand what you're going through. Traumatic brain injury is often a hidden trauma. Just because someone looks fine on the outside doesn't mean they aren't facing challenges every single day. Many of the struggles survivors experience cannot be seen, but that doesn't make them any less real.
Here, survivors come together to share experiences, build friendships, encourage one another, celebrate accomplishments, and find a place where they truly belong.

Tort & Nog™ are our official mascots. Tort, our turtle, and Nog, his brain companion, bring the TBI experience to life in a simple, relatable, and sometimes humorous way.
