What is a TBI
(Traumatic Brain Injury)?
A traumatic brain injury, or TBI, happens when a blow, jolt, or other external force to the head disrupts how the brain normally works. A TBI can happen in many different ways, including falls, vehicle accidents, being struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian, ATV accidents, assaults, and other serious impacts to the head.
TBIs can range from mild, including a concussion, to moderate or severe. No two brain injuries are exactly alike.
Having a TBI can feel like starting over on a new path you never asked for. Things that once came naturally can suddenly become difficult. Your memory, balance, focus, emotions, energy, and everyday life can change, and sometimes you don’t even understand why.
If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
TBI Meets Foundation is here to raise awareness about traumatic brain injury, help survivors understand what they are experiencing, and connect you with people who truly understand because they are walking their own TBI journey too.
Welcome to TBI Meets Foundations!
TBI Meets Foundation is a survivor-led community built on connection, understanding, acceptance, education, awareness, opportunity, and fun.
We understand that life after a brain injury can feel isolating, especially when others don't fully understand what you're going through. Traumatic brain injury is often a hidden trauma. Just because someone looks fine on the outside doesn't mean they aren't facing challenges every single day. Many of the struggles survivors experience cannot be seen, but that doesn't make them any less real.
Here, survivors come together to share experiences, build friendships, encourage one another, celebrate accomplishments, and find a place where they truly belong.
Through our virtual TBI Meets, programs, resources, and growing community, we provide opportunities to connect, learn, laugh, and grow together. We also encourage survivors to discover their strengths, take on leadership roles, and even explore opportunities to create and host their own TBI Meet, sharing their interests, experiences, and talents with others.
We are dedicated to raising awareness about traumatic brain injury, helping others recognize and understand this often invisible trauma, and creating new opportunities for survivors to move forward with purpose.
At TBI Meets Foundation, everyone has something valuable to contribute, and every survivor deserves to be heard, understood, and accepted.
We Are Not Alone.
TBI Meets Foundation is a survivor-led community created to bring people affected by traumatic brain injury together through connection, support, education, understanding, and fun.
Our virtual meetings give TBI survivors a place to connect with others who understand life after brain injury, while our separate Family & Friends program provides a space for loved ones.
Whether you are newly navigating life after a TBI or have lived with one for years, you do not have to face it alone.
