On September 15, 2002, my life changed forever when I was involved in a devastating accident with a tractor-trailer that left me with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). I spent five weeks in a coma and had to learn how to navigate a life I never expected and knew very little about.

More than 24 years later, I still live with the challenges of a traumatic brain injury. I know what it's like to struggle with things that once came naturally, to feel misunderstood, and to try to find a new sense of normalcy.

I created TBI Meets Foundation because I realized how important it is to connect with others who truly understand what living with a brain injury is like.

I wanted to create something where survivors could come together, share their experiences, laugh, build friendships, support each other, and have opportunities to grow and lead.

But I want one thing to be clear. TBI Meets Foundation isn't about me. It's about every survivor who walks through our doors, shares their story, and helps make this community what it is.  My experience may have been the beginning of this Foundation, but it's the survivors who give it purpose.
